5:30 P.M.  Mayor Rhoads called Work Session No.7 to order.

City Manager Steve Arbo and City Attorney Teresa Williams were also present.

1.    PUBLIC COMMENTS:  There were no Public Comments

2.    COUNCIL COMMENTS:  Mayor Rhoads offered his condolences to Councilmember Hofmann on the loss of her mother earlier this week.  

3.    PRESENTATIONS:

A.    Q1 Update of General Fund (GF) Financial Condition

COUNCIL ACTION:  Mrs. Sharon Quigley provided a brief presentation regarding the current condition and projections of the General Fund for the City of Lee’s Summit.

No Council Action Required.

B.    Presentation and review of the City Council Retreat Summary  
COUNCIL ACTION:  Mr. Nick Edwards had previously prepared the documents for Council review.  This information was provided to Council in their packets for the week. No presentation was given.  Council agreed to offer softer words for some of the descriptions provided by the facilitator of the Council Retreat. Mr. Edwards will make the suggested changes and present the report to Council at a later date.

C.    Demonstration of EngageLS! the City’s new civic engagement web site.
COUNCIL ACTION:  Mrs. Sharon Quigley provided a brief presentation and demonstration of the EngageLS! civic engagement web site. Council provided suggestions on uses and topics for the website to engage more citizens.   Council also suggested requiring an address to create an account on this site.

No Council Action Required

4.    COUNCIL ROUNDTABLE:

ADJOURNMENT:  There being no further business, Mayor Rhoads ADJOURNED the January 17, 2013, Work Session at 6:41 p.m.
