LEE’S SUMMIT SYMPHONY BEGINS 7TH SEASON
Fall Classic Concert will be held October 17th

    Conductor Russell E. Berlin announces the first concert of the Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra’s 2009-10 season will be on Saturday evening, October 17, at the Bernard C. Campbell Performing Arts Center on the campus of Lee’s Summit High School, at Highway 50 and 291-N.  The performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be preceded by a discussion of the program at 6:30 by Dr. Les Brothers, chair of the Music Department at the University of Central Missouri .
    The Symphony will mark the 200th anniversary of Franz Josef Haydn’s death with a performance of his Symphony #104.  The concert will then take on a Halloween flavor with “Funeral March of the Marionettes” by Gounod and “Masquerade Waltz” by Khachaturian followed by highlights from The Phantom of the Opera featuring Gloria Helmer and Chris Munce.  The program concludes with “March to the Scaffold” and “Witches’ Sabbath” from Berlioz’ popular Symphonie Fantastique,
    Tickets are $12 in advance ($6 for students to age 18) are available at either Lee’s Summit Hy-Vee stores or via www.lssymphony.org.  Tickets will cost $15 and $7 at the door.
    The Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra exists to promote musical activities of high quality in the community and to serve as a haven for devoted musicians who are dedicated to excellence and lifelong learning and growth.
