The Lee’s Summit High School 1968 graduating class has set aside the last weekend of September as a time to come together, share memories, and reconnect. Nearly 300 students were in the 1968 graduating class and sadly 37 have passed away.
Almost 100 of the surviving students have indicated they will be returning to Lee’s Summit September 26-28, 2013 for reunion activities. An informal social is scheduled at the PEANUT in downtown Lee’s Summit at 219 SE Main beginning at 4:30 on Thursday, September 26. The VFW Hall at 329 SE Douglas has been reserved as a hospitality area for the classmates on Friday evening, September 27, in conjunction with the downtown Oktoberfest activities.
The reuniting grads will be gathering at Perkins on Saturday (Sept. 28) , from 8 till 10am before taking a tour of their alma mater starting at 10:30. Parking lot socializing is scheduled afterward from noon till 2 pm at Johnny Rays Drive In. The socializing will culminate starting at 5 pm on Saturday, September 28, in the lower level of the Brew Top at 700 Woods Chapel. The 1968 Class President, Ross Miller, will be returning to Lee’s Summit from his Florida home to preside over the festivities.
