Fatal accident along U.S. 50, Lee's Summit

Fatal accident along U.S. 50, Lee's Summit

On 11/18/2011 at approximately 7:00 a.m. officers with the Leeís Summit Police Department were called to the area of U. S. 50 near the O'brien Road overpass on the report of a body alongside the roadway.  Officers responding to the scene located the deceased in a grassy area on the north side of the westbound lanes of U.S. 50.

Initial investigation indicates that the victim was struck by a vehicle in the westbound lanes of U.S. 50 sometime during the overnight hours.  The victim is a local man in his twenties.

The investigation into the accident is on-going.  The victimís name has not been released yet pending the notification of family.
