Bring the entire family to Jackson County Parks & Recreation’s Missouri Town 1855 Fall Festival of Arts, Crafts and Music and enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment of this historic antebellum setting. The smell of wood fires and hot apple cider will build up an appetite for some old-fashioned vittles. See the Master Blacksmith working at his forge or kick up your heels to authentic music.
Our newest attraction this year is the process of making sorghum, an important commodity of the mid 1800s. Staff and interpreters will hand cut the sorghum grown onsite at Missouri Town, mill the stalks with a horse powered mill, and finally cook the raw sap into the finished sorghum syrup. Also featured will be a quilt display, lost arts demonstrations, fine arts displays and crafters featuring many homemade wares. Children can even create their own unique craft project as well as participate in traditional activities such as tug of war, stilts, sack races and the game of graces.
Saturday, October 1st, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Sunday, October 2nd , 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
