Join Rick Roeber alias “Barefoot Rick” at Roe Park in Overland Park Kansas for the 7th annual Polar Barefoot Run at Roe Park. Rick will be raising awareness for the homeless by accepting donations for the Kansas City Rescue Mission. Since starting this tradition in 2004, Roeber has raised hundreds of dollars for various charities while encouraging scores of hearty “soles” to take the challenge of running a half-mile or a full-mile barefoot on New Year’s Day.
Roeber started running barefoot over seven years ago after suffering from chronic knee pain and reading how barefoot running forces proper running form. Barefoot Rick has not experienced significant knee pain since he gave up his trainers and has ran over 17,000 miles barefoot since kicking off the shoes. As Roeber states, “For me, it’s not difficult running barefoot. By the grace of God and inch by inch ... it’s a cinch.”
