ALERT: Boil Advisory Issued for Oaks Ridge Meadows area in Lee's Summit, as well as Mandatory Water Restrictions
July 16, 2012 7:28 p.m.
The City of Lee’s Summit’s Water Utilities Department is issuing a boil advisory effective immediately for the Oaks Ridge Meadows area due to loss of water pressure from a water main break Monday evening.
Customers in the Oaks Ridge Meadows subdivision off Anderson Drive are advised to boil all drinking water.
Customers should boil water vigorously for three minutes before using it to drink, cook or prepare food. Ice made with un-boiled water after 3 p.m. Monday should not be used for drinking purposes. Disinfect dishes and surfaces used for food preparation with tap water that contains one teaspoon of household bleach per gallon.
The water is safe for other purposes such as bathing, but children should be discouraged from swallowing bath water. Water boiled for drinking and cooking purposes should also be used for brushing teeth.
The boil advisory is in effect for at least 24 hours and until water quality can be confirmed. Samples are currently being collected and customers will be updated on the status of the boil advisory by the morning of July 18 through local media and the City’s various communication methods including its website.
Customers in the area experienced water shut off in order to repair the main break Monday afternoon. The water was off for about 2.5 hours.

Park Ridge Drive, Coral, Sapphire, Ruby, Turquoise, Pearl, Hidden Ridge Lane, Oaks Ridge Drive, Oaks Ridge Lane, Sunrise Meadows, Velie, Promised View, Northgate Crossing and Emerald.
