July 18, 2010 Lee's Summit Police Department
Several alternate routes are available for motorists to enter Kansas from Westbound I-470 Highway, which was recently closed due to a sinkhole. Typically, motorists would enter Kansas from I-470 via I-435 West. This portion of roadway has been closed by MODOT until further notice. Alternate routes include the following: Westbound I-470 Highway Exit 7B to Raytown/350 Highway Exit at 63rd Street and turn Left Left onto I-435 South
Westbound I-470 Highway Exit US-71 North Exit at 87th Street. Get onto US-71 Highway Southbound Exit on I-435 Southbound into Kansas
I-70 Westbound towards Downtown KCMO I-435 or I-35 South into Kansas
Due to an influx of traffic onto roads less-traveled during rush hours, be prepared for major delays and the potential for motor vehicle crashes due to large volumes of traffic. LSPD expects traffic back-ups within its City Limits, including areas such as the I-470 / 50 Highway interchange, Colbern and Douglas Roads, and M-150 Highway at West City Limits. LSPD has scheduled additional Traffic Officers to work during Monday morning rush hour in an attempt to help curb problem areas and keep traffic moving.
