American Lung Association Honors Lee's Summit Local Entrepreneur

May 18, 2012

Gary & Trish Walker

The King of Green (KOG), Gary Walker, CEO of Magic Touch Cleaning, Inc.’s years of service and dedication to the clean air mission of the American Lung Association earned Walker the Environmental Entrepreneur of the Year Award.  On Saturday, April 28th at the American Lung Association Gala 2012 in Kansas City, Walker along with his wife and business partner, Trish, accepted the prestigious award. At first breath, you may think it’s a natural business connection for Walker to have been a long-time supporter of the American Lung Association, but his involvement was sparked by his compassion for children in support of his nephew, Tyler, who was diagnosed with childhood asthma. Ironically, years later, Walker was diagnosed with occupational asthma.

With an internal drive to always deliver what’s best, Walker set the bar high when he started his commercial cleaning company in 1992. His goal was to clean better and more thorough than the competition, because that’s what clients deserve. Years later, after the effects of toxic cleaning materials began to take their toll on Walker, he once again was determined to deliver what was best – not only clean, but just as importantly, safe environments that would protect and improve air quality. He felt it was his responsibility to clients and the Magic Touch Cleaning, Inc. team to have safe air to breathe. Magic Touch Cleaning, Inc. is the first completely green janitorial company in the Midwest.

After making the decision to become all green, Walker has never looked back. In fact, his dedication for clean and safe environments has only grown deeper and broader. From numerous national awards, to participation in an exclusive Federal government greenhouse gas disclosure pilot program, to assisting in the draft of Senate Bill 1181 which establishes green cleaning legislation and guidelines for schools in the State of Missouri, Walker is on a mission to make our world a cleaner, safer place to live. Walker’s success as an entrepreneur goes without question and his passion for green cleaning and living is helping us all breathe a little easier each day.
