By Mary Patricia Storms, Communications Director

St. John La Lande School's team displays their trophy for the Catholic Knowledge Bowl.

Seventh and eighth grade students from St. John La Lande School won first place in the Archbishop O’Hara Catholic Knowledge Bowl.  The event, held February 4, was hosted by O’Hara Seniors as part of the Catholic Schools Week celebration.
Questions in the categories of Creed; Prayer and Sacraments; Old Testament; New Testament; Saints and Sinners; and the Tradition of the Church were capped by a bonus question for each round asked by Most Reverend Robert W. Finn, D.D., Bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph.  The bishop appeared via videocast from Vatican City.
Students qualified for the Catholic Knowledge Bowl by participating in an on-line round through the O’Hara web site.
St. John’s team included Steven Gordon, Matthew Gordon, Corbett McKinney, Matthew Mader, Jacquie Whalen and Brittany McIntyr.  Mrs. Anna Opie coached the team.  St. John La Lande School is located in Blue Springs.
Our Lady of Presentation School’s team, comprised of Lindsey Valdiviez, Claire Tadokoro, Kaydee Gabel, Gabriella Rizzi and Hilary Talken finished in second place with a score of 61 points.
