More than a dozen area churches joined together to
benefit Lee’s Summit Social Services at a community block party called
SummitFest on Saturday, June 14.
More than 2,000 people gathered
at the Legacy Park amphitheater for live music, kids activities and a
strength demonstration from Team Xtreme.
The event raised more than $2,000 for Lee’s Summit Social Services in addition to 14 large barrels of non-perishable food.
This was the first year for SummitFest, a joint effort from these area churches:
Pointe Community Church, Journey Church International, Grace Baptist
Church, Discover Church, Harvest Baptist Church, New Summit
Lee’s Summit First Church, Abundant Life, First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit,
Legacy Christian Church, Raintree Community Church, Deerbrook Covenant Church, and Life Christian Center
Organizers are beginning the planning for next year’s event.
Xtreme is a group of athletes, strongmen, rappers and martial artists
who will come and present an action-packed show that will amaze any
