More than a dozen area churches joined together to benefit Lees Summit Social Services at a community block party called SummitFest on Saturday, June 14.

More than 2,000 people gathered at the Legacy Park amphitheater for live music, kids activities and a strength demonstration from Team Xtreme.

The event raised more than $2,000 for Lees Summit Social Services in addition to 14 large barrels of non-perishable food.

This was the first year for SummitFest, a joint effort from these area churches:
Grace Pointe Community Church, Journey Church International, Grace Baptist Church, Discover Church,  Harvest Baptist Church, New Summit Presbyterian,
Lees Summit First Church, Abundant Life, First Baptist Church of Lees Summit,
Legacy Christian Church, Raintree Community Church, Deerbrook Covenant Church, and Life Christian Center

Organizers are beginning the planning for next years event.

Team Xtreme is a group of athletes, strongmen, rappers and martial artists who will come and present an action-packed show that will amaze any crowd. TX also brings a hard hitting message of hope that changes lives. Team Xtreme has done events in over 85 countries, entertaining millions through Special Events, School Assemblies, Seminars, Conferences and Church Services. Team Xtreme's home office is right here in Kansas City, so they are easy to access for booking.

If you would like to book Team Xtreme, please call Kevin at (816) 868-5968 or email him at kevinstark@hotmail.com.
