Lee's Summit Park and Recreation's Assitant Administrator Joe Snook receives award
April 18, 2010
Joe Snook, Assistant Administrator for Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation was recently presented with a state award from the Missouri Parks and Recreation Association. He was honored at the annual conference at Ozark Lake on March 4 with the presentation of the Associate Fellow Award. This prestigious award is given as deserved to Parks and Recreation professionals who have been in the field for less than ten years, served on standing or special committees of MPRA, had articles published, presented to community groups in the interest of parks and recreation and contributed outstandingly to the field through innovated ideas or programs.
Snook currently serves as Region I Director for MPRA and co-chaired the development and implementation of a national facility design school for the Kansas City metro on behalf of MPRA. In addition he served as Program Chair for MPRA and is certified as a National Recreation and Parks Professional, Recreation Sports Specialist, Aquatics Facility Operator and completed both the Park and Recreation Maintenance Management School and Revenue Development School in Oglebay, WV. He has been published in the National Parks & Recreation Magazine and regularly presents customer service training workshops for state and national parks and recreation organizations. Locally Snook has served as an officer for Lee’s Summit Cares, graduated from the Leadership Lee’s Summit program and is a volunteer coach for several competitive youth sports teams.
Tom Lovell, LSPR Administrator says that Snook has not only guided the operation of a rapidly expanding recreation section but also managed the development of the Gamber Center, a unique multi-generational facility that required significant research and community involvement before construction could begin. “Joe has a “can do” attitude and has a sincere love and appreciation for our profession, he is not only a great asset for Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation but is also a tribute to our state and our profession” Lovell stated.
