Summit Christian Academy (SCA) recent graduate Hannah Hyer has been named the valedictorian of the 2012 class after an audit of transcripts. Hyer is the recipient of a Combined Abilities Academic and Foreign Language Scholarship for Truman State University and the Scholar Athlete Award for SCA.
In an annual audit of transcripts, it was discovered that the weight given to an honors course was not added. Therefore the new grade point average of 4.169 was assigned to Hyer, naming her the valedictorian of the 2012 graduating class.
Hyer was a member of SCA’s National Honor Society and Student Government. She participated in the worship team and basketball while at SCA and has been accepted in Truman State University’s nursing program.
“It takes hard work and dedication to obtain a 4.169 GPA in SCA’s rigorous academic program,” says SCA secondary principal Emir A. Ruiz Esparza. “Hannah is an exceptional student who was a leader for our school both academically and in the manner in which she conducted herself.”
“Hannah’s eagerness to learn was such a blessing to me as a teacher,” said secondary science instructor Diane Ferguson. “She lives Colossians 3:23, working for the Lord and not for man. Her giving spirit is to honor and glorify God both inside and outside of the classroom.”
Hannah Hyer plans to study nursing and then pursue a Nurse Practioner graduate degree.
Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is an independent, nondenominational Christian school serving over 685 preschool through high school students.
