Mental health America of the Heartland is presenting a workshop entitled "The DSM-5 Changes for Diagnosis and Approach to Autism Spectrum Disorders" from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Children’s Campus of Kansas City located at 444 Minnesota Ave., Ste. 100, Kansas City, KS.
Parents, teachers, counselors, mental health professionals, social workers, nurses and other professionals working with children, youth, and families are encouraged to attend this informative workshop. Topics covered will be:
Changes in the diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum disorder as outlined in the DSM-5
Concerns and proposed benefits of the changes to the DSM-5
How the new DSV-5 changes can provide a more individualized and descriptive diagnosis
Ways that help families and providers with the core difficulties that individuals with autism spectrum disorders face
