With household budgets strained and entertainment on many family’s chopping blocks, a free event with no strings attached is a welcome reprieve from belt tightening.
The community is invited to Abundant Life’s Free Kids Carnival on Saturday, Sept. 15, from noon-4 p.m. The event, now in its tenth year, has become a tradition for many families in the Lee’s Summit area. No tickets are required and no donations are solicited or accepted.
“It’s really free, really fun and families have been enjoying it for nine years,” said Chris Thomson, an Abundant Life pastor who oversees the event. “We are blessed to be a part of such a great community and it’s our way of simply saying thank you.”
The event, which takes place at Abundant Life at 414 S.W. Persels in Lee’s Summit, features totally free activities for kids of all ages and free food and drinks for all.
Activities in previous years have included a trackless train, moon walk, slides, petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, a dunk tank and competition inflatables. These events, plus many others, will return this year and help swell the carnival to fill an entire multi-acre parking lot.
