Bedroom fire damages a Lee's Summit home.
October 31, 2012
By Assistant Chief Jim Eden Lee’s Summit Fire Department
On Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 2:27 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported automatic fire alarm at 3420 SW Pryor Road. Attempts to contact the residence en-route were unsuccessful.
When the fire department arrived, nothing was visible from the outside of a two-story, single family residence. Further investigation found the inside of the house filled with heavy smoke and additional fire department units were requested to the scene for a structure fire. The homeowner arrived at the house at around the same time as the fire department.
Firefighters entered the smoke filled building, located and extinguished a fire burning in the first floor bedroom. A search of the entire house confirmed that no one was home. The fire was under control by 3:20 p.m.
The fire originated in the first floor bedroom. Fire damage was limited to the bedroom with heavy smoke and heat to the remainder of the house.
