Blue Springs man charged for sexual acts with 16-year-old student in 2005

April 15, 2017

A Blue Springs man faces multiple felonies in connection with alleged sexual acts with a then 16-year-old student in 2005, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

James R. Green, dob: 11/3/1964, faces six felony counts of Statutory Sodomy 2nd Degree.*

According to court records, a now 27-year-old man has reported that as a 16-year-old student in the Northland he was sexually assaulted on multiple occasions at the defendant's Blue Springs home. These incidents occurred in 2005 when the victim was 16 and a student in Smithville.

The victim said he met the defendant, then a Blue Springs teacher and coach, in an internet chat room. Blue Springs police also interviewed a 16-year-old Blue Springs student who said he also had sexual relations with the defendant in recent months in Blue Springs.

The defendant during that time was  a middle school teacher and coach in North Kansas City.

Prosecutors requested a $100,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation.

*Charges are only accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until the defendant is either found guilty or has pleaded.
