BLUNT ON GOVERNMENT CONTROL OF HEALTH CARE:

--“Repeal this colossal government takeover of health care”--

 WASHINGTON—Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt voted ‘no’ tonight on the Washington Democrats’ two-trillion-dollar health care bill.

“The bipartisan vote tonight was the vote against the colossal government intrusion into health care that passed the House.  Like the thousands of Missourians I’ve heard from, a bipartisan coalition of Democrats and Republicans opposed Nancy Pelosi’s government takeover of health care.

 “Missourians oppose this legislation that cuts Medicare by more than half a trillion dollars, raises job-killing taxes by more than $569 billion, and costs far too much.

“This fight is not over.  Our goal should be to improve what works and fix what’s broken, but this bill does not achieve that end.  I’ll keep working to repeal this colossal government takeover of health care and replace it with sensible solutions.

“The plans I’ve proposed tackle everything from medical liability reform, to portability across state lines, to small business health plans.  These bills can be debated one at a time, won’t break the bank, and are common-sense updates to our health care system.”

The Washington Democrats’ Health Care Take-Over:

·        Hurts seniors by cutting Medicare by $523.5 billion;

·        Kills jobs by raising taxes by $569.2 billion;

·        Fails to live up to health care promises for veterans, military retirees, and their families by omitting protections for Tricare;

·        Forces the IRS to hire up to 16,500 new employees to enforce the new taxes; and

·        Breaks trust with the taxpayers through payoffs like the Cornhusker Kickback, Louisiana Purchase , and Gator-Aid.

 The Washington Democrats’ health care bill passed by a vote of 219-212.

    Roy Blunt doesn't seem to have a full grasp on the reality of the situation.
    First, the health care legislation is not a take over of health care. It is moderate insurance reform that benefits business, families, individuals from all walks of life.
    • The Medicare "cuts" are actually "savings".
    • Does NOT change, alter or cut any benefits to veterans.
    • The "cornhusker kickback" and "Louisiana purchase" and any other offers are eliminated with the reconciliation bill.
    The bill does benefit your family or business right now with:
    • No rescission should you or a member of your policy become ill.
    • You cannot be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition.
    • Small Business tax credits of up to 35% of premiums.
    • Begins to close the Medicare Part D "donut hole"
    • Free preventative care under medicare
    • Help for early retirees.
    • Bans lifetime limits on coverage.
    • Independent appeals process for when coverage is denied.
    • 80% to 85% of insurance revenue collected MUST be used for coverage claims.
    • Allows parents to continue coverage for children until age 26.
    • Community health centers will see increased funding.
    • Increases and incentivizes the number of Primary Care doctors
    That's just what it will do right now.
