On Tuesday, October 09, 2012, at 5:14 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported car fire in the garage of the house at 5312 NE Scenic Drive.
When the fire department arrived, smoke and fire was coming from the attached garage of a single family residence. All of the occupants of the house were reported to be outside.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire in the garage as other crews searched the remainder of the house to ensure the fire had not spread. The search confirmed that no one was in the house and the fire was contained to the garage. The fire was under control by 5:35 p.m.
The fire damaged the inside of the garage and the vehicle where the fire originated. There was minor smoke damage to the remainder of the house.
The cause of the fire in the car is under investigation.
