Chapel Lakes Elementary School in Lee's Summit Went On Lock Down

May 8, 2013

Sgt. Chris Depue

On 5/8/13 at around 4pm, officers were called to the Chapel Lakes Elementary School in the 3700 Block of NE Independence Avenue in Lee's Summit.

School officials there had placed the school campus on lockdown after being informed that a person was seen on the campus with a gun and that the person had tucked the gun into their waistband.

Officers responded to the scene and located the suspects, a juvenile female and two juvenile males. The gun in question was located and determined to be a BB gun.

All three juveniles were taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters to be released to parents. Charges will be pending upon review by juvenile authorities. The school was removed from lockdown status once the suspects were located.

The school is unique in that it is a Blue Springs School District facility located within the city limits of Lee's Summit, MO.
