Charges filed in I-70 crash killing Clifton J. Scott, a MODot worker this morning

A Blue Springs man has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in today’s early morning crash on Interstate 70 that took the life of Clifton J. Scott, a Missouri Department of Transportation worker, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.
David C. Murdick, 35, faces Class B felony of Involuntary Manslaughter in the First Degree.
According to court records, Murdick was operating a vehicle in an intoxicated condition when crashed, at a high rate of spend, through cones and ignored other warnings and barriers, striking MoDOT worker Scott. A traffic collision investigation was underway on I-70, east of Lee’s Summit Road shortly before 3 a.m. today, when Murdick struck Scott, who died at the scene. Murdick tested at .184 blood-alcohol level at a hospital following the collision.
Prosecutors requested a cash bond of $75,000.
