Kansas City area celebrity, accomplished local radio and TV host, renowned and acclaimed Chef Jasper J. Mirabile Jr. was happy and busy Monday evening as he stopped by for a purposeful visit to downtown Lee’s Summit’s–A Thyme For Everything–Products Of Distinction.“ What brought him downtown? To teach cooking,” said Chef Jasper, who admits to “cooking for 41 years, since I was eight–and traveling to over 60 cities each year.” Jasper reflected positively on his Jasper’s restaurant in the Waldo area for 14 years and moving to our Jasper’s location on 103rd in 1997. Monday evening Chef Jasper presented “Recipes from grandparents, parents and myself–something old and something new.” The evening recipe fair was correctly titled “An Heirloom Dinner and Cooking Class”. Mirabile has been coming to Jet Pabst’s fun store, A Thyme For Everything for over four years and believes in the power of “fresh”. Each week Pabst’s store offers a cooking class and Chef Mirabile Jr. has been part of her teaching rotation for almost the entire four year trek. Dianne Cejka of Raymore states, “This is my fourth class, I was in Jet’s store when I found out about the cooking classes and signed up right away. The best part is we get to eat what’s prepared.” Owner Jet Pabst said, “The KC Chef community is a small and tightly-knit group and when I was encouraged to ask Jasper to teach, Chef Mirabile accepted right away.” Cooking classes are held weekly, and the group size is purposely kept small to maximize the fun, food and learning. Information can be obtained by visiting the store at 229 Main Street or by calling 554-3755. Jasper’s Restorante is located at 1201 W. 103rd St in Kansas City at 941-6600.
