City of Lee's Summit hosts Public Meeting for Prairie View Elementary Traffic Study

June 28, 2010

By Melissa Bedford Fears

The City of Lee’s Summit completed a traffic engineering study for Prairie View Elementary School.  Several recommendations were made to improve vehicle and pedestrian safety around and within the school area, especially along SE 5th Street.

The Public Works Department will host a public meeting on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 6:30p.m. in Room C at Legacy Park Community Center, 901 NE Bluestem Drive.  At the meeting there will be a short presentation about the recommendations from the traffic study, which include traffic calming, parking restrictions, and timed left-turn restrictions at the 5th Street and Todd George Parkway intersection.

After the presentation, City staff will be available to answer questions and receive comments about these recommendations.

In addition to the scheduled public meeting, the City has created a Web page for information and public comment at: http://cityofls.net/Transportation/Prairie-View-Elementary-School-Traffic-Study.aspx
If you have any questions about the meeting, please contact the City’s Senior Staff Engineer Jeff Wilke by phone at (816) 969-1821 or by e-mail at jwilke@cityofls.net.
