City Prepares for Snow on Sunday and Monday
The City of
Lee’s Summit’s Public Works Department will continue pre-treating
streets in preparation for snow forecast Sunday, January 9, and Monday,
January 10.
According to the “Weather or Not” forecast, “the potential for light
snow will increase late Sunday night as a storm system begins to move
east into the (region). It appears that steady snow will arrive during
the day on Monday and continue into the overnight as this system moves
across the area.”
“Flurries or perhaps light snow may lead to minor accumulations with
slickness on (pavements) possible by Monday morning rush hour, according
to the forecast. “However, steady light snow beginning Monday morning
should increase to moderate snow by Monday afternoon and continue
through the evening with the bulk of snow accumulations occurring during
this time. Snow accumulations within the range of 3-6 inches are
possible.”
The Public Works Department will continue pre-treating streets at 3
a.m. Monday, January 10, to manage slick spots on roadways. Snow removal
and treatment of streets will continue at 7 a.m. Monday.
Weather conditions will be monitored throughout the weekend and
adjustments to the City’s snow removal operations will be made to
effectively deal with changing weather conditions.
