City's Crews Plowing and Treating Secondary Streets

January 5, 2014

The City of Leeís Summit's snow removal crews are plowing and treating secondary streets and upon completion of these roadways will begin on residential streets.

Primary roads were plowed and treated this afternoon. However, drifting and blowing snow made it necessary to re-plow these streets earlier today and tonight on January 5.

Temperatures overnight will be nine below zero with wind chill of 20 to 30 degrees below zero. Deicing materials are ineffective with below zero temperatures, which can cause snow to become packed on roadways. Snow packed on roadways is much more difficult to plow.
