City's Crews Plowing and Treating Streets
January 5, 2014
With snow still falling in Lee’s Summit, the crews are plowing and treating primary roadways throughout the City – an effort that began overnight on Saturday, Jan, 4. There are also trucks plowing snow in residential areas at this time. Once the snowfall ends, the City’s crews will make a final pass on primary streets, before beginning on secondary streets.
According to the forecast, the snow will likely end before 10 a.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 5. However, winds are expected to continue at 18 to 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph. Drifting snow is accumulating along the edge of roadways and will likely continue because of these conditions. The temperature will only be 11 degrees today, which will limit the effectiveness of rock salt.
The City will continue to monitor the winter weather storm and road conditions to make necessary adjustments to snow operations.
The Snow Desk, available at (816) 969-1870, opened at noon on Saturday, Jan. 4, and will remain open during this snow operation.
