COMBAT to Host Professional Development Conference

Jackson County COMBAT (Community Backed Anti-Drug Tax) will host a conference for local programs and community leaders o gain new knowledge related to the areas of substance abuse treatment and prevention, as well as violence and crime prevention.
The COMBAT Professional Development Series will take place on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center (4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, Missouri).
There will be 20 different workshops scheduled throughout the day in which attendees can participate. The workshops deal with a variety of topics on substance abuse and violence, as well as mental health and ethics.
County Executive Mike Sanders is scheduled to make opening remarks to begin the day’s activities. The keynote speaker for the event is Margaret T. Donnelly, Director of Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services.
