Influential Expression is hosting the 2nd Annual Lee's Summit Photo Walk during Lee's Summit's Holiday Sneak Peak weekend. The two-hour event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 15 and features a walk and community events.
Walkers can take photos during the two-hour walk through downtown, the Farmer's Market and picturesque neighborhoods. The walk begins in front of City Hall, 220 SE Green Street, and ends at Linger Bakery & Lounge, 19 SE 3rd Street. Stroller-friendly shortcuts make the walk accessible for nearly everyone. Shortcuts take people around the parts that are not stroller-friendly and detours lengthen the route.
The event was inspired by Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk. In 2010, over 1100 Photo Walks took place worldwide and the community involvement inspired Deb Sturgess of Influential Expression to start one in Lee's Summit.
“I started the Photo Walk as an activity that would be fun, free and welcome families, singles and seniors,” says Deb Sturgess of Influential Expression, sponsor of the Lee's Summit Photo Walk. "I love seeing people of all ages sharing a great time," In the first walk in 2010, the youngest photographer was 3-years-old.
In addition to the walk, there will be a photography contest, which is open to photographers of all ages. Prize sponsors are Freeland Photography, Rusty Spur Couture, 1st Community Bank, The Living Stone, the Fig Tree Cafe and Bakery, and Influential Expression.
Open to all members of the community, Henry Insurance Agency will provide free M.I.L.K. Child Identification kits to parents for each child in the family. The M.I.L.K. program provides parents with identification software that includes a standardized, high-quality digital image of their child with a place to record current detailed characteristics. If the unthinkable occurs, a parent can immediately print "missing" posters and send this important information to law enforcement agencies and the NCMEC-information that can help turn an extended search into a quick recovery.
For more information, please go tohttp://www.farmers.com/milk_communities.html. The event will be open from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and will take place at All A'Bloom, 5 SE 3rd St.
Additionally, Arc Therapeutic Massage will give away free 10-minute chair massages at Doherty & Sullivan's Irish Goods, 213 SE Main.
This community event is free and open to the public. Walkers are encouraged to register early at http://leessummitphotowalk.org/. On-site check-in and registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on October 15 in front of Lee's Summit City Hall.
