Benefit planned after man falls from ladder

Benefit planned after man falls from ladder

Feb. 10, 2012

David King

Lee’s Summit VFW Post 5789 and Eddie’s Lounge are holding a benefit for the family of an injured Lee’s Summit resident.

David King was on a ladder when he had an epileptic seizure. He fell, injuring his spinal cord and leaving him a paraplegic.

An all-day fundraiser endeavors to raise enough money to pay David’s family’s rent for a year so he can focus on rehabilitation. Organizers are looking to the community for items for the breakfast, dinner and silent auction for the benefit, planned for Saturday, Feb. 18 at the VFW Post, 329 S.E. Douglas in downtown Lee’s Summit.

There will be a breakfast and bake sale from 8 to 11 a.m. ($6 donation), a silent auction and hotdogs and hamburgers at 2 p.m.

Your $15 donation includes one Dinner and entrance for the evening entertainment, Country Rick and the Barnyard Playboys from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and Saddle Brook from 7 to 10 p.m.
Any donations of items or money would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or donations, please call Kit Carson 816-537-7614 or email her at ccarson6292@yahoo.com. An account has been set up at Bank of Lee’s Summit in Lee’s Summit, MO.

David’s father-in-law is a member of Post 5789, and his daughter is a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. They are trying to raise enough money to pay their rent for one year.

My wife and I would be happy to contribute to your cause. We will attend either the breakfast and bake sale and/or the silent auction. May GOD bless and comfort you and your family in your time of need. We will say a prayer for you and your family...
