Camp CoHoLo Welcomes Lee’s Summit Cancer Survivor
July 21, 2012
By Jessica Root, Intern Reporter for the Tribune
Lee’s Summit resident Savannah Walters will be attending Camp CoHoLo in Nebraska July 18-22. This 12-year-old girl battled cancer and won.
This special camp stands for “Courage, Hope and Love”. It was created specifically for children who have cancer and those who have completed treatment.
The Camp CoHoLo theme for their 28th camp is Summer Olympics. Campers will be participating in opening and closing Olympic ceremonies, sporting events and a superior triathlon as well as camp favorites such as swimming, laser tag, sliding down the 20 foot water slide and a kickball tournament.
Funded completely by donations, Camp CoHoLo provides children with various cancers and blood disorders the opportunity to replace hospital visits with an outdoor camping adventure.
Walters will have a great week with other kids who have fought cancer and are fighting cancer. The city of Lee’s Summit supports her with courage, hope and love!
