LEE’S SUMMIT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA TO CONDUCT AUDITIONS

Openings for several instruments, especially violas.
Russell E. Berlin, conductor of the Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra, announces upcoming auditions for several positions for the orchestra’s 2009-2010 season.
Current openings include viola, bass and percussion players, as well as additional violinists who can join the orchestra as personnel needs vary during the season.  Musicians, who must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, should prepare a 5-minute orchestral excerpt or solo passage for the audition, to occur on Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Lee’s Summit High School, Highway 291-N and  Blue Parkway.
Interested musicians can download the application form at www.lssymphony.org/musicians.html and return it to the Symphony by email to office@lssymphony.org or by mail to PO Box 352 , Lee’s Summit , MO 64063 .
The Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra is comprised of dedicated musicians of all ages who provide high quality symphonic music at an affordable price.  Rehearsals are on Monday nights and the orchestra plays five concerts each year (plus a matinee of the holiday concert).  The first classical concert of the 2009-2010 season will be on October 17th at 7:30 p.m. in the Bernard C. Campbell Performing Arts Center at Lee’s Summit High School .  Tickets are available through the Symphony website, or by September 1st, at both Lee’s Summit Hy-Vee stores.
