Local Lee's Summit family needs help
Jan. 14, 2012
A Lee’s Summit family needs help paying their mortgage after their father suffered a stroke at age 40 and will not be able to work for an extended period of time.
The family has three girls in fourth through eighth grade and doesn’t have insurance.
The family is very humble and would not ask for help on their own, but friends and community members have organized a raffle to help pay their mortgage, bills and buy groceries.
The raffle is for two 12-person suites at a Missouri Mavericks hockey game and two 12-person suites at a Missouri Comet soccer games, both at the Independence Events Center. Each suite is valued at $1,000, and the suggested donation for each raffle ticket is $25 (though any amount will be appreciated and accepted).
Since this family is in such dire and immediate need, the drawing will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, though donations will still be accepted after that date.
Prize No. 1: A12-person suite at a Missouri Mavericks hockey game at the Independence Events Center on Feb. 21. Prize No. 2: A 12-person suite at a Missouri Mavericks hockey game at the Independence Events Center on March 6.
