On Oct. 6, Tessa Robinett, a member of Lee’s Summit West’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America visited Trailridge Elementary to read “Llama Llama Red Pajama” to the school’s fifth-graders.
When Nickelodeon, a baby llama, whose “mom” is Trailridge teacher Pam Wining heard that they were going to be reading his favorite book, she was sure to get him on the guest list. To the delight of everyone, he wore his own red pajamas to this special reading. The event is one of several activities planned to encourage reading at the school.
FCCLA is career and technical student organization for young men and women in family and consumer science education in public and private schools through 12th grade. It is the only in-school organization with the family as its central focus.
