Sydney Sahudin of Lee's Summit, MO has been awarded the Young, Kelly and Burns from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2014-2015 academic year.
“Scholarships enable us to recruit and retain outstanding students to our college,” said Bryan Garton, associate dean of academic programs.
Sahudin, a Freshman majoring in biochemistry, is the daughter of A. H. and Donna Sahudin.
As a result of receiving a prestigious MU Curator Award, which recognizes outstanding high school academic performance, Sahudin has also received a four year scholar award from CAFNR that is made available through various scholarship accounts. The Young, Kelly and Burns Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 by a gift from the Raymond R. and Ruby Louise Burns Trust to provide scholarships, fellowships, or research work for students in CAFNR.
"As the cost of earning a college degree continues to increase, it is rare to find a student who does not need financial assistance,” Garton said. “Our goal over the next 10 years is to increase the amount of scholarship funding from approximately $1 million to $1.5 million.”
Information on scholarships and the college is available from Garton at 573-882-0089 or from high school counselors.
