SCA Announces Academic Dean
July 21, 2012
Linda Harrelson, Summit Christian Academy (SCA) Head of School, recently
announced that the school has added an Academic Dean position to the
school’s administration. Kimberlee Gill has been appointed to this
new role. Gill has a Master of Science in Education with majors in
secondary education and curriculum and instruction.
“Mrs. Gill has served as the elementary principal at SCA for the past 8
years,” said Harrelson. “As SCA continues to grow, we are excited to
have a seasoned instructor and leader to expand our college preparatory
curriculum and further enhance the PS – 12th grade academic foundation.
In this role, Mrs. Gill will work to expand SCA’s individualized
curriculum to best meet the needs of each student, as well as providing
oversight to the teachers in their exercise of best practice
instruction.”
“This is not a difficult task,” stated Gill. “When you have a faculty
dedicated to serving and blessing students, all administration needs to
do is cut through the red tape and provide teachers with what they need
to teach. From the academically gifted students, to the students
struggling with reading, all are making amazing academic strides.”
Gill has also overseen the growth and development of SCA’s STEWARDS
program for gifted students, the Resource program for students who need
additional learning assistance, and the Virtuosity! program for fine
arts.
“We currently have 60+ students receiving fine arts lessons before,
during, and after school – a wonderful opportunity for these children
and a great service to parents,” commented Gill.
Gill’s leadership in the school’s annual curriculum reviews supports the
school’s mission of excellence and philosophy of partnering with
parents. Using a whole-school committee approach, Gill has based SCA
curriculum on data gleaned from research and surveys of teachers,
parents, state and technology standards, local private and public
schools, SAT/ACT scores, and textbook publishers. These curriculum
reviews have ensured highly effective teaching that is embraced by
parents, students, and teachers.
“We have once again seen God’s amazing hand of provision at SCA. He
continues to provide highly qualified personnel with exceptional talents
to benefit our students,” added Harrelson.
Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is an independent, nondenominational
Christian school serving over 660 preschool through high school
students. Established in 1989, SCA is located on a 36-acre campus and
holds dual accreditation through North Central Association and
Association of Christian Schools International.
