SCA First Graders Read Over 28,000 Minutes

March 25, 2017

Pictured here are classroom winners (left to right):  Sofia Cipolla with 1,184 minutes, Londyn Foster with 1,250 minutes, Chloe Constant with 1,297 minutes, Grey Stout with 1,210 minutes, Samuel Nagy with 1,172 minutes, and Sophia Ruiz with 1,490 minutes.

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) recently challenged the first grade class to get excited about reading in a friendly “Goody, Goody, Gumball” reading competition.  Students received a gumball sticker for every 30 minutes read.  Together, the fifty students from the three first grade classes read 28,205 minutes, which is an average of 553 minutes per student!

The two top winners from each class received a Barnes and Noble gift card and gum balls.
