August 25, 2012
Summit Christian Academy’s senior Luke Hammer was inducted into the Lee’s Summit Human Relations Commission at City Hall with the Mayor and City Council on August 16. Hammer is one of only two high school students selected from the entire Lee’s Summit area to serve on the Commission.
The Human Relations Commission is one of Lee’s Summit’s main focuses with the objective of developing understanding in the community about various cultures and ethnicities. The Commission promotes mutual understanding and respect among diverse groups in the city and works to create harmonious relationships among citizens, groups, and agencies. The Commission is made up of four citizen members and three community sector members appointed by the mayor for three-year terms.
“I am honored to receive this recognition!” commented Luke Hammer.
