The door reads “create, duplicate, deliver,” which makes PostNet so much more than just a place to ship packages. It doesn’t matter if you’re checking your PMB Box, mailing a package or stopping in to quickly pick up copies of the blue prints that were just emailed – convenience, efficiency and the feel of small town service similar to that of Mayberry makes this stop a delight.
At the helm of this bustling business is owner Susan Englesby, who opened her business in March 2004. One other full time employee helps the business run smoothly.
“I had searched for a location and liked this corner, and with all the new businesses coming in, it just felt right,” Englesby said.
The steady stream of customers proved to be testimony itself. Serving mainly the lake communities of Raintree and Winnebago, Englesby also serves customers that come in from Greenwood and surrounding towns.
“We are really a full service business center,” Englesby said. With printing services, brilliant color copies and finishing services (including binding, cutting and folding), she is able to offer excellent products and creative services. A customer that moved to Florida still hires Englesby for his business presentation needs. She was shipping out his 30 presentation folders today.
Providing shipping services from UPS, Fed Ex, DHL and the US Postal service gives customers flexibility and more of a choice when shipping. During my visit, a woman came in and needed to get documents to Afghanistan by tomorrow. Englesby gave the customer many choices, including scanning and emailing, to provide the fastest service possible.
To meet other business needs, Englesby adds, “We have notary and fax services, mailbox rentals, and I personally design signs and banners for customers.” Businessman Charlie Baker of Lee’s Summit raved about the service he receives at Post Net.
“They are like my administrative staff if you will. I call in and they have things ready and waiting for me,” he said. Englesby referred to a tennis banner he needed for his daughter that Baker said he will use again this year.
“I travel quite a bit on business and it’s great to have them here to sign for my packages while I’m out of town,” he said.
As he left the store, Baker asked for his copies to be put on his account, which speeds things up and provides great bookkeeping for a business owner.
“We do a lot of customization and think outside the box,” Englesby said. Whether creating posters, signs, banners or business presentations, the look and final product is sharp and professional. Behind the counter stood a “Las Vegas Night “sign that she created for a local church’s upcoming event.
Recycling and keeping things green is also important to the owner. She takes plastic bags, small shipping peanuts and cardboard to help keep these items in use and out of landfills. Their location even takes in pairs of eyeglasses to help the community by donating the used glasses to the Lions Club.
Brian Chlanda, a business owner, needed copies of blueprints to send to Oklahoma. Chlanda praised the store and the service he receives.
Need to ship a box with a toddler in tow? Not a problem. In the corner of the shop is a play mat with a small box of toys. A darling young girl headed straight to the toys while Mom mailed a package.
“The best $20 I ever spent,” Englesby said, describing the toy corner.
Currently, customers tell Englesby why they love PostNet at www.postnet.com/lee-s-summit-mo111. In the past, PostNet’s given away iPads, but this year, someone will win a trip for two to San Francisco.
