Summit Christian Academy Athletes Sign Letters Of Intent

March 2, 2013

Two Summit Christian Academy (SCA) students Henry Stratton and Matt Collier recently signed Letters of Intent.

Henry Stratton signed to play golf for Hannibal-LaGrange University that includes both an academic and athletic scholarship.  Stratton is the first SCA Golf player to sign a letter of intent to play golf at the collegiate level.

“Henry has a lot of character and this is very important as a golfer,” commented Hannibal-LaGrange Golf Coach Cody Smith.  “I am looking forward to having him on my team.”

Matt Collier recently signed to play soccer for Rockhurst University that includes both an academic and athletic scholarship.  Collier is a defender/mid fielder for the SCA Eagles who has been playing soccer since he was four years old.

Last fall, Collier was invited to participate in the Olympic Development Program of US Youth Soccer in Alabama where he was observed and evaluated by a US Soccer National Team Coach.  He was on the team that won the NCAA Men’s College Cup Tournament.  Most recently, Collier was recognized as one of the nation’s top high school soccer players and was listed on the 2012 High School All-American Player Watch List.

“Matt is a tremendous young man.  His athleticism, soccer ability, and leadership make him an invaluable asset to any team,” commented Athletic Director Jake Kates.  “Matt has been a pleasure to have at Summit Christian Academy and I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for him in the future.”

“Matt is truly a leader on and off the field,” shared SCA Soccer Coach Carlos McField.  “It was a privilege to coach Matt.  He is incredibly talented, but above all he gives 100%.”
