DAVE CROSS MOTORS GROUNDBREAKING

At 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28, Dave Cross Motors, Inc. will have a ground breaking ceremony for their “Brand New Dealership”, at 1120 N Blue Parkway, which is currently the site of their Service and Parts Departments.
Dave Cross Motors has been a fixture in Lee’s Summit since 1960. At that time, Dave Cross Pontiac was established by Dave Cross, Sr. at 50 Hwy and 71 Bypass South. The dealership acquired Pontiac in 1961, and in 1965, they moved to the 1120 N. Blue Parkway location (the present facility will be demolished in the coming months for construction of the new building).
In 1973, David A. Cross joined the firm after graduating from Lee’s Summit High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Further changes in the Lee’s Summit infrastructure in the 1970s and ‘80s (relocation of 50 Highway and I-470) brought about another move for the Sales facility, which is currently at Chipman and Blue Parkway. This facility was built in 1989. Also in 1989, Dave Cross Motors was recognized by the Lee’s Summit Chamber as the “Small Business of the Year”.
Dave Cross, Sr., passed away in 1993, and David A. Cross became the Dealer of Dave Cross Motors, Inc. Dave was joined by sons David L. Cross (LSHS Class of 1995) in 2000; Chad Cross (LSHS Class of 1997) in 2001; and Matthew Cross (LSHS class of 2000) in 2004.
Dave Cross Motors has deep roots in the Lee’s Summit community and has succeeded through geographic, economic and the termination of product lines, such as Oldsmobile and Pontiac.
In 2013, a new chapter in the history and existence of Dave Cross Buick-GMC Dealership will begin with the opening of a “Grand New Dealership”.
