January 11, 2014

Downtown Main Street’s New Assistant Director, Donnie Rodgers Jr.

Donnie Rodgers Jr. is a 2006 graduate of Drury University with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and minors in Global Studies and Art History. For the past five years, he has served as the Community Development Coordinator for the Urban Districts Alliance in Springfield, Mo., a nonprofit community development corporation.

Donnie managed and coordinated development, events and activities for the Commercial Street Historic District, served as CID manager of the Commercial Street Community Improvement District, and coordinated all print, electronic and social media for the Urban Districs Alliance. He also worked with the City of Springfield on a number of projects geared toward small business development.

Donnie served on the Responsible Hospitality Panel and the Convention and Visitors Bureau Public Relations Advisory Committee, and he has been actively involved with the Grant Beach Neighborhood Association and Boxer/Schnauzer Rescue of the Ozarks. Previously, Donnie worked for Old Town Cape, an accredited Missouri Main Street community.

He currently is pursuing a master’s degree in Community Development from Kansas State University. In his free time, has enjoyed working on his 1917 Craftsman-style bungalow, traveling and photography. He’s now looking for an old home to buy in Downtown Lee’s Summit.
