Perceptive Software and the University of Kansas School of Engineering honored Summit Technology Academy engineering instructor Dr. Paul Rutherford with the second Educating Excellence award. Perceptive Software and the University of Kansas developed the Educating Excellence program to recognize outstanding Kansas and Kansas City area high school science, technology, engineering and math teachers.

Rutherford is in his 12th year as an engineering instructor at Summit Technology Academy, and has a total of 27 years teaching experience. He’s being rewarded for his never-ending commitment to both his students and the teaching profession. According to former students, Rutherford is an influential and inspiring figure who pushes students to not only excel in the classroom, but also in life.

Representatives from Perceptive Software and the University of Kansas School of Engineering presented Dr. Rutherford with the $1,500 Educating Excellence award during a special assembly at Summit Technology Academy (777 NW Blue Parkway, Suite 300 | Lee's Summit, MO 64086) on Friday, October 29 at 1:30 p.m.

Each month throughout the 2010-2011 academic year, a $1,500 award will be given to an outstanding Kansas or Kansas City area teacher. Nine teachers in total will be recognized throughout the academic year.
