Electrical Fire Damages Home at 102 SW 4th Street
Jan. 24, 2012 Assistant Chief Jim Eden, LSFD
On Monday, January 23, 2012, at 3:54 a.m., the Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 102 SW 4th Street. The occupant reported an electrical odor and light smoke in the house.
When the fire department arrived, nothing was visible from the outside of a one-story, single family residence. All of the occupants were out of the house.
Firefighters entered the building and quickly located a fire inside the front wall of the house that had spread to the attic. The wall and ceiling were opened and the fire was extinguished. The fire was under control by 4:25 a.m.
The fire was started by an electrical failure in the wall and caused extensive damage to the structure.
