Excessive Heat Warning Alert From Lee's Summit Fire Department

The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warning which remains in effect from now until 7pm Saturday.
Potentially Life-Threatening heat and humidity expected across the Lee's Summit are through at least Saturday.
Afternoon heat indices will reach 105 to 155 degrees on Wednesday and 105 to 110 degrees on Thursday over our area. 100 to 105 degree readings can be expected on Friday and Saturday.
An Excessive heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely and can be life threatening. Drink Plenty of Water. Stay in an Air-conditioned room. Stay out of the sun and check up on neighbors, the elderly, and pets.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside when possible. Reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat Exhaustion and heat stroke. wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
