On Wednesday, January 09, 2013, at 10:08 p.m., the Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1600 Kimberly Court in the City of Greenwood.

The occupant called 911 and reported smoke and fire in the garage. The smoke alarms were sounding in the house.

When the fire department arrived, smoke and fire was coming from the garage of one- story raised ranch, single family residence. The occupants of the house were safe outside.

Firefighters entered the structure and quickly knocked down the fire in the basement garage before it could spread to the rest of the structure. The fire was under control by 10:29 p.m.

Fire damage was contained to the garage, with varying amounts of smoke damage to the remainder of the house.

The fire is under investigation by the City of Greenwood.
