Funding Change for M-291 South and Highway 50 interchange Project
January 17, 2014

The Kansas City District of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) agreed on Thursday to commit $8 million to the reconstruction of the M-291 South and Highway 50 interchange.
The news came as a relief after MoDOT recently announced suspension of their cost-sharing program. The city was prepared to depend on the program for help financing the project.
The city council voted in December to include a $10 million general obligations bond issue on the April ballot. If approved by voters, that money would fund about half of the $16.1 million project. The city would then apply to the cost-sharing program for MoDOT to fund the other half.
