The Website TeaMap, which provides access to quality tearooms throughout the 50 states, Canadian Provinces and the United Kingdom, ranks tearooms based on features and customer feedback. Recently Henry’s Tearoom achieved the No. 1 ranking for the state of Missouri.
Located in the lower level of Henry’s Antiques, the tearoom is a delightful and comfortable blend of antiques and wonderful food. Owner Charla Henry has been dedicated for the past several years to providing a unique dining experience in historic downtown Lee’s Summit. Managed by head Chef Brenda Barner, the tearoom has grown from one room to the five it now occupies. “It’s amazing,” Henry said, “Brenda has worked so hard, she makes nearly everything from scratch, from salad dressing to rolls. We use as much organic as we can and have expanded the menu choices.”
Assisted by Suzie Johnson, who bakes many of the pastries, and Shirley Haynie, Brenda presents a menu that changes with the season. The menu features four entrées, a quiche of the day, a panini or other sandwich, chicken salad and a daily special. In addition the side of the day, there is a mixed greens salad and a frozen fruit salad. Desserts vary daily and are so luscious the decision is difficult. For $15, you get your choice of entrée, two sides, dessert and all you can drink.
“I am very excited, I had no idea when I started that it would be this big,” said Henry. “We have so many more guests coming for parties, showers, bridal luncheons and that special birthday. I am so thrilled to see all of the men you join us.”
Two special high tea events are planned for the coming months. The Harvest High Tea will be held on Oct. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. and the Holiday High Tea is scheduled for Dec. 4.
The Tearoom is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with seating until 1:30 unless special arrangements have been made. Call 816-524-0057 for more information.
