I am announcing today that I will not seek reelection to the City Council from the 3rd District of Lee’s Summit next April.
It has been my honor to represent the citizens of the district and I have attempted to represent the opinions of my constituents. There is no greater privilege that to be selected by your fellow citizens to represent them in decisions important to their lives and the community. I have represented Lee’s Summit in the State House of Representatives and now City government, and will always cherish the many friends I have made.
I have watched the operation of this City for 4 years and can tell you that the professionalism of the City Manager and the entire city staff is second to none. We all may differ sometimes with certain things the city government does, but the dedication and hard work of the staff is impressive. We are fortunate to have such fine people work for and operate our City on a daily basis.
I am leaving the Council simply because it is time for me to move on in my life. I have retired and plan to spend more time traveling and engaging with my grandchildren. I will miss being a part of the decision making process and the many friends I have made along the way. But, I plan to stay a part of the community and will find other ways to assist in making the City I love, a better place to live.
There are many intelligent and dedicated citizens in the 3rd District who should strongly consider running for City Council. I promise you will receive much more than you give by choosing to run for this job. I know that I have.
City Council 3rd District.
