House Committee Passes Medicaid Reform Bill

On Wednesday, April 30th the House Health Insurance committee amended SB524 to include Medicaid reform language and passed it out 5-2.  The Medicaid language is the same language that Senator Silvey has distributed and includes expansion.

The Medicaid Coalition applauds Rep. Molendorp and the committee’s effort to still move Medicaid reform this session.  “While the end of session may be near, this shows that Medicaid is not dead and that there is bi-partisan support to still extend health care coverage to 300,000 Missourians this year” said Michelle Trupiano, Director of the Missouri Medicaid Coalition. “The Missouri legislature needs to put people before politics and find a way to expand Medicaid before 700 people die.”

The Missouri Medicaid Coalition is a diverse coalition of over 150 organizations all working towards expanding Medicaid to provide health care coverage to over 300,000 Missourians.  Learn more at www.momedicaidcoalition.org
