Huge Crowd Protests Obama Policies in Lee’s Summit

More than 750 of Missourians demanded their freedom and showed their opposition to the liberal Obama-Carnahan agenda at the Missouri Republican Party’s Give Me Liberty Rally in Lee’s Summit on Wednesday, July 7th evening. The rally took place the day before President Obama is scheduled to visit Kansas City to raise money for Robin Carnahan’s campaign for U.S. Senate.
The keynote speaker was Lt. Governor Peter Kinder, who, earlier in the day, filed a constitutional challenge to the national Democrats health care bill in federal court.
“Missourians stood at tea party rallies across the state and sent Washington a message. Once again, we are standing up, demanding our liberty, and telling President Obama and Robin Carnahan that ‘enough is enough,’” said Lt. Gov. Kinder at the rally. “I was asked why we are holding this rally, and I responded that this event is about American citizens coming together to exercise our First Amendment rights to assemble, speak, and petition our government for a redress of grievances.”
The crowd carried banners, signs, and flags—and demanded that the federal government listen to them on issues from cap-and-tax, to our-of-control spending, to health care.
“For more than a year, Missourians have been clamoring for a voice in the debate over the government takeover of our medical and insurance decisions. But Washington did not listen,” said State Sen. Jane Cunningham, one of the leaders behind the Health Care Freedom Act. “The Missouri General Assembly did listen to you and responded by restoring government of, by, and for the people.”
In addition to Kinder and Cunningham, St. Rep Tim Flook, farmer Hal Sweeny, former MOGOP Chairman Woody Cozad, and former Judge Bill Lewis also addressed the crowd.
